Uttarpara Public Park and Play Ground, later renamed as Manohar Udyan is
home of many eminent sportsmen. Manohar Mukherjee (in whose name this ground
is dedicated) played in this ground in his early days. Later he joined
Mohan Bagan Club and became part of the historic team that won the IFA
shield in 1911 - first by any Indian club. The win over British team
sent a surge of patriotic wave among all Bengalees.

PP Ground - hub of sports activities in Uttarpara
Later, many famous football players who represented Bengal and
India, emerged from this ground. Its bubbling with young boys -
as can be seen in the photograph
